Majura Primary School expectations for relief staff
Relief Staff
At Majura we welcome casual teachers to our school and value your expertise and experience as educators. We believe each teacher offers something unique and valuable to our students and look forward to having you here.
Some things you may engage in as a relief teacher at Majura:
- Team teaching with colleagues
- Supporting specialist programs
- Supporting multiple classes across one day
As a relief teacher at Majura, you are expected to:
- Arrive by 8:30 to meet our staffing officer, Ros, and prepare for your day (08:15 if it is your first day at Majura)
- Ask the front office staff for a print-out of the class roll
- Be prepared for playground duty - make sure our front office number is in your phone. Please bring a hat to school and take your mobile out to duty with you – your classroom will have a duty bag – this holds vital medical and student support information
- Read the class information left by the teacher before you start your teaching day
- Please come with lessons or activities prepared - often work will be left for you, but we value your creativity and input
- If you are team teaching, let the other teacher know you have activities prepared to add to the day
- Engage professionally with colleagues
- Follow up with any student behaviour that is not in line with our values; seek support from other staff as required
- Leave some brief follow up notes for the class teacher
- Leave the classroom space and corridor area tidy
- Use your personal mobile during break times and for emergency reasons only, please be fully present with your class at all times.
